Our History

Hallgren Company Inc. was started in Seattle in 1946 by Mr. Hallgren, as a valve and piping manufacturers representative for Rensselaer valve and several other brands.  Originally  located on First Avenue South in Seattle just north of Spokane street, the company was sold to Bill Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} Carmichael in the mid 1960's and was relocated to Western Avenue.  When Mr. Carmichael passed away in 1974, Robert Allison and Ted Teufel purchased the company from the Carmichael family.

Robert Allison, our current owner, started in the water works business in 1959 and worked for the Howard C. Fletcher Company, Cook Sales and Kennedy Valve.  Robert and Ted led the Hallgren Company on Western Avenue until the late 1980's when the falling demand for toggle style fire hydrants ultimately led Rensselaer Valve to stop selling hydrants.  Ted Teufel retired and Robert Allison moved the company to its current location in Redmond re-focusing on fire hydrant parts and service.
